World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an item up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In certain instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain by itself.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is usually a good factor, but it could also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to increase their effectiveness. For instance, if you have a helm or chest, it will boost its defense base while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it is able to reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain after upgrading, along with the values of these stats. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will be hit for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that circle. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to poison, curses fire, magic, and other. This can make it easier to navigate difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the greater health you can receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game, and to unlock each fountain, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a lot of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with friends.
You can't upgrade your armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also gain benefits to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few upgrades of the chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a participant, produce the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. Additionally, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be earned by making them on a craft table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
When a poton is upgraded, it will not degrade in the event that you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is kept. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. Splash potions for instance are now available with a time of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item. Trinkets

In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets, unlike other items which can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a brand new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the previous one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value with time. They can also be traded between players and are an attractive alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should consider the preferred statistics of their class. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm, shoulders, and belt.
When they are no longer useful trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. item upgrader comes with an additional bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade is likely to ruin the previous trinket in the event that it is not saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying new ones.
